Education for the "vulnerable" population, as well as for the "non-vulnerable".
We believe that the struggle against social marginalization is -to quote Franca Ongaro Basaglia -
"a reform that presupposes not only a change in services, but also the beginning of a radical change
in social relations". With this axiom in mind we have engaged in a number of novel projects such as
research/publications, conferences, participation in trade fairs as well as the setting up of an educational archive (books, videos).
Educational Archive
Our educational archive consists of material in both the English and the Greek language in a
variety of formats, such as videos (VHS/DVD/AVI), CD-ROM, audio CDs, as well as a list of useful websites and books.

Research/Publications
In 1996-1997 we undertook a survey on "Assisted work-schemes in Greece". The results were published in leading Greek and British psychiatric magazines.
In 2000 we started a research on people who have moved out of the psychiatric hospitals
and into sheltered accommodation. We aim to give a qualitative analysis of their responses to this change.
We have published the minutes of a two day-conference which we organized in
1999 in Athens, jointly with "Dromokaiteion" Psychiatric Hospital. The topic of the conference
was "Supported employment and the role of a job coach", with many participants from Greece and
our two guest-speakers from Cyprus, Nicos Angelidis and Eleni Georgiou.
In 2001 we published the minutes of another event which we organized jointly
with the Aegaleo Centre for Mental Health. This was a one-day conference titled "Self-advocacy
really works", our guest speaker being Roberta Graley-Wetherell.
Our aim is always to bring together groups of "able" and "disabled" people. We like sharing
experiences together, we like taking off labels, and finding out that at the end of the day none of us are either "able" or "disabled".
As a joint venture with "Speak Up Somerset" we produced a diary titled "Positive steps 2003".
The diary includes paintings by British artists; also paintings by Greek artists with mental
health problems.
Other publications include the Conference Minutes "Voyage in the Community" (2007),
the "Foucault Tribunal" (2007),
"The Light of Madness" (2008), also publication of our "Educational Archive" (2008)
as well as
our "Guide to Accessibility in the Labour Market and Social Intergration of
St. Barbara's Disabled Citizens" (2008).
